Essay on Coronavirus
Introduction
Coronavirus or COVID-19 is a contagious viral infection caused by a virus named SARS-CoV-2 (Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus -2). As the name suggests the virus affects the respiratory system of the infected.
When COVID-19 Was First Discovered?
The World Health Organization (WHO) first learned about the disease in December 2019. There were reports of sudden burst in the cases of a kind of viral pneumonia, never heard before.
The virus is so contagious that it by the end of March, millions of cases were being reported from countries throughout the globe.
Preventive Measures for COVID-19
In wake of the highly contagious nature of the virus that spreads quickly through human to human contact, many governments resorted to complete lockdown to slow down the spread of the virus. Though, it prevented new cases to a considerable extent, it also has other severe consequences like loss of employment, poverty, mental fatigue and depression in some cases.
Social distancing was and is still considered as the most effective tool to fight with the pandemic.
COVID 19 Symptoms
Common symptoms of COVID-19 are – fever, cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, loss of taste and smell. There are some asymptomatic cases as well. In such cases the person is positively infected but has no symptoms at all.
COVID 19 Vaccinations
It took almost a year for governments from across the globe to produce vaccines for this dreaded pandemic. Several countries including America and India have started administering vaccines, but looking at the large units of doses required, to successfully vaccinate every individual. It is still a long way to go.

COVID-19 is a deadly pandemic that is making reappearances after subsiding for a couple of months. Till you get successfully vaccinated, if you are 18+, it’s best to follow the COVID-19 protocol and social distancing imposed by your government.
